We have been working very hard in Room 34 for the past few weeks! I am excited about all the progress our students have made from the beginning of the year! Amazed doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about their growth! I hope you all looked through your child’s report card and congratulated them on everything they have accomplished this year.
In math we started our next chapter focusing on numbers up to 20. This is a very important chapter because students learn how to use place-value when working with the “teen” numbers. It sets the foundation for adding and subtracting numbers up to 20, which will be our next chapter.
After collecting all the up to date data on our students, we were able to re-organize our TEAM Literature groups to better fit each students’ needs. They continue to work on reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in small groups.
In Writers Workshop we are learning the last few strategies for writing small moment personal narratives. Soon we will move on to revising, editing and publishing. This will be a very exciting time for the students; publishing a story is a celebration of all they have learned!
I look forward to discussing your student at conferences! Please bring any questions, comments or concerns you have about your child. I am looking forward to showing you their work!
Reminders:
Conferences are next Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th.
November 25th school is out at 12:30.
NO SCHOOL November 26th-29th
