Time flies when you're having fun! We've been having a great time the last few weeks. We completed our wants and needs social studies unit this week. We did a nearpod activity, heard read alouds, read in our textbooks, watched videos, and created a popplet about our wants and needs. We look forward to our last activity, which will be at the Raupp Museum, when we get back from break. This week we've been practicing asking questions while reading. We've also been reading all of the wonderful books we had donated from the book fair! And we've been continuing our second step (social emotional learning) lessons. The past couple lessons have been about reading people's faces and body language. We've practiced with many situations and discussions. And we're finishing up chapter 7 in math, which focused on place value and number patterns. The next chapter starts getting to larger numbers. We've also been working hard this week on gifts for our families. Please remind your child to give you your gift! And we went on our field trip to the Marriott Lincolnshire to see Wizard of Oz. Although we had some anxious students, everyone got through it and ended up enjoying the show. Please talk to your children about the play! We also participated in the Hour of Code. We went to Mrs. Wylie's room for a special activity and used some apps in our classroom to work on computer programing/coding. As you can see, we've been super busy lately!
Things to ask your children about:
-Can you show me a face that looks disappointed? Excited? Worried?
-What's the difference between needs and wants?
-What are some of the books that were donated to the class? Which one is your favorite?
Things to remember:
-We are going to the Raupp Museum on January 6.
-Please continue to look for those missing Team Literacy books if I've contacted you.
-I sent home a couple reading logs and a list of fun activities to do over break. Anything you complete over break can be sent back in when we get back to school in January.
-Let me know if you want to be a mystery reader!
