Welcome to the Super Star team! We have an amazing group of students ready to learn and grow together.
This week we have been very busy already! We added our first poem into our poetry journal. The students practiced making a picture in their minds while reading the poem so they could draw their own illustrations. We also highlighted seven sight words that we spotted in the poem. I taught the students a couple ways they can practice spelling their sight words. One way was a spelling race game. The other was rainbow words. Hopefully you saw both activities come home in their take home folders. These are both great spelling activities for the students to play with any words they are practicing. This week we also read Splat the Cat, Miss Nelson is Missing, and The Big Orange Splot. Everyone had a chance to start designing their own dream houses after listening to The Big Orange Splot! It was a lot of fun and we will continue to work on this project next week. Hopefully you saw the Super Star newspaper your children brought home so you can see some of their favorite activities from the week.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Curriculum Night Tuesday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m. It will start in the gym and then continue in our classroom.
If you have not yet sent an art smock or coins for math (4 quarters, 10 dimes, 10 nickels, 20 pennies) please send them by Monday, August 27th.
I will be using this website to post classroom newsletters, important dates and information, pictures, and more. Please check back often! And let me know if there is anything you would like added to the website that would help you and your family. The best way to reach me is through email. My email address is [email protected]. I will do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can. You can also reach me by calling the school and leaving me a voicemail. The number is (847) 945-6665.
I'm looking forward to a wonderful year!
